New York Lawyer Rhonda E. Kay
Rhonda Kay came to GGCS&M
in 1992 from the Appellate Division, Second
Department where she was a Senior Court Attorney.
Often referred to as the "law person",
Ms. Kay specializes in appellate practice. Since
joining the firm, she has prepared and argued
appeals in all four departments of the
Appellate
Division as well as New York State's highest
court, the Court of Appeals. Her insights into
what is necessary to support or defend a
particular legal argument that she gained from her
prior training with the Justices at the Appellate
Division has made her a valued asset in both
providing support to the trial attorneys and
winning the appeals: "Behind every great
trial lawyer is an equally great law person."
She has written course
materials for various bar association seminars
including the prestigious "Decisions"
seminar, which advises attorneys throughout
New
York State on recent changes and developments in
the law. In addition, she has co-authored a
chapter in a product liability treatise and has
lectured at several continuing legal education
programs sponsored by the New York State Bar
Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers
Institute.
In 2005, Ms. Kay was
appointed a member of the Board of Editors for
"Warren’s Negligence in the New York
Courts," Second Edition. In 2006, Ms. Kay
authored her first book, an AnswerGuide for
"New York Negligence," published by
LexisNexis Matthew Bender.
Her professional
affiliations include memberships in New York State
Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers
Institute, and the New York County Lawyers
Association where she formerly served as an
officer of the Appellate Advocacy Committee.
